You bet times are changing for media companies and MTV for one is not going to get stuck in the mud of pure traditional media. The company announced yesterday that is launching an integrated standalone mobile media unit to be headed up by their new digital media czar. Expect their deal with MVNO Amp'd Mobile to either greatly expand or open up and allow the company to work with other providers for content distribution. Getting the early jump on competition should propel the network's mobile division to a category leading or near category leading position almost immediately, assuming the corporate bigs keep the investment flowing.
